Spitzer Launch

Launch | Infrared Launch | Preparations

Note: At the time of Spitzer's launch on 25 August 2003, the Observatory had a working name of SIRTF (the Space InfraRed Telescope Facility). Spitzer's planned April 2003 launch was delayed by NASA due to concerns about the Delta-II rocket intended to carry it to orbit. Another Launch Images Directory exists containing all the images from that launch attempt. The only pictures that have been retained on this page are those that are pertinent to the actual 25 August 2003 launch.
